A technique using two or more different art mediums to create a single art piece.
Serigraphy (silkscreen printing) is a stencil process of printing. A stencil is
applied to a nylon screen by way of paper, liquid, or photographically. Silkscreen
ink is then pushed through the screen using a squeegee, depositing ink on the
paper. A separate screen is required for each color desired. Prints made this way
are called screen prints or serigraphs.
A relatively flat slab of fired clay that is ornamented, engraved, carved and/or
painted that may be mounted for decoration on a wall.
A piece of rawhide (may be cow, deer, elk, bison) that has been soaked and
stretched on a hoop of natural wood or metal and dried then painted and
decorated with feathers, beads, horsehair or other items.
Images produced using a digital camera which may be displayed and
manipulated on a computer using computer software and transferred to
SOUTHWESTERN STYLE ART:
Art that is indicative of the colors, architecture and cultural influence
(Spanish and Native American) found in the region of the Southwestern United
States, primarily Arizona and New Mexico, but also Texas, Nevada, California,
Utah and Colorado.
A term used to refer to any group of people inhabiting a particular geographic
region who have the earlist historic known connection to that particular region
--people whose ancestors inhabited that place. Other terms for indigenous
peoples is first people and aboriginal people. Derived from the Latin word
indigena, meaning native.
NATIVE AMERICAN STYLE ART:
Art that is influenced by any of the cultures of the indigenous peoples of the
Western Hemispherethe Americas.
A some what imprecise term referring to art produced in the present and modern in spirit. Also referred to as art produced in the late 20th and early 21st century.
Art which is of fine excellence, executed professionally and selected for display in a museum setting.
