ABOUT THE ART |
|
Her work has been described as "intense," "awesome," "powerful," "cutting edge," "beautiful," "spiritual," "dramatic" and even "intimidating."
Becky Olvera Schultz specializes in unique clay and mixed media
masks inspired by the indigenous peoples of the Americas. Her pieces are
formed from clay, fired, painted, then adorned with real horse hair,
natural domestic bird feathers, bison hair, horn and jewelry she makes from turquoise,
bone, shell, brass, and leather. Even when producing editions, no two
pieces are ever exactly alike. Each piece is individually detailed and
hand painted. She also creates rawhide shields, dolls, 2D work such as photography/digital and serigraphs as well as wall and free standing sculpture. All her masks are her original work and hand formed,
not made from castings taken off someone's face.
Becky welcomes commission work and dealer inquiries. Call or Email to request additional information. |
