Southwestern Style Masks and Mixed Media Art For The Discriminating Collector
Becky Olvera Schultz is an indigenous artist who creates contemporary art in the Native American and Southwestern theme, specializing in Native American themed masks and Southwestern style masks. Her Native American themed masks are not wearable or ceremonial but are her personal representation of indigenous peoples made of clay, painted and adorned. They may be described as portrait masks as they are very life-like; they are her original sculptures, not made from castings taken off a the face of a person.
Her award winning masks have been featured in hundreds of exhibitions, including nine solo museum exhibits. Her masks have been represented in galleries in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Illinois, Montana, Michigan, Arizona, New York, Colorado and Oregon. Her art has been featured in several publications including Cowboys & Indians, Native Peoples and Wild West Magazine. Her body of art work includes Southwest themed clay and gourd masks, two dimensional mixed media works, serigraphs, rawhide shields, dolls, wall plaques, digital & photographic works. She is significantly known for her Native American masks which have been the primary focus of her museum exhibits.
